Horry hosts an estimated 13.8 million tourist annually. The focal point of Horry County (pronounced O-ree) is the City of Myrtle Beach. The MSA is home to thousands of people and is recognized as the 13th fastest growing MSA in the US and is one of the top tourist destinations in the nation. No longer a seasonal summer resort, the Grand Strand is a growing year-round resort with a multitude of golf courses, 1,000+ restaurants, world class theaters, entertainment and shopping that compliment its white sandy beaches. The MSA is an established, fast-paced marketplace with many ingredients for continued, sustainable growth. As such, commercial real estate (improved and raw land) will continue to see demand.
The Myrtle Beach-North Myrtle Beach-Conway MSA (Horry County)consists of several communities to include Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Little River, Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach, Murrells Inlet, Loris, Aynor and the City of Conway (the county seat). This MSA has benefited from the population growth (and subsequent housing demand) and infrastructure improvements to include S.C. Highway 22 (Veteran's Highway), S.C. Highway 31 (the Carolina Bays Parkway), Robert Grissom Parkway and the creation of the frontage roads and overpasses along U.S. highway 501 (the major artery from Conway that carries most traffic into Myrtle Beach). With future infrastr ucture projects to include completion of the last phase of S.C. Highway 31; the planned construction of Interstate 73 through Horry County (will intersect Interstate 95 in Marion County); and the planned construction of Interstate 74 from Brunswick County into the northern section of Horry County (intersecting with S.C. Highway 31); growth will continue for the foreseeable future.
