Georgetown

Located to the south of Horry County (the Myrtle Beach MSA) is Georgetown County. This county has some of the most pristine undeveloped land in the State to include large timber tracts and inlets. The Georgetown MSA (Micropolitan Statistical Area) consists of several communities to include Murrells Inlet, Litchfield Beach, Pawleys Island, and the State’s third oldest city, City of Georgetown. Since the early to mid 1700's, the citry of Georgetown has been a major port going back to its agriculture roots.

Commercial development varies depending upon its location within Georgetown County. The majority of development has taken place in the northeastern portion of the county in what is commonly referred to as the South Strand. This area includes the communities of Murrells Inlet, Litchfield Beach and Pawley's Island.
