Brunswick County

Brunswick County is a North Carolina coastal county in what is commonly referred to as the Coastal Plains region of North Carolina. The county seat is Bolivia, which is approximately 20 miles south of Wilmington, 15 miles north of the Town of Shallotte, and approximately 30 miles north of the North Carolina/South Carolina border.

Brunswick County is part of the Wilmington MSA (which also includes New Hanover and Pender Counties – which is commonly referred to as the Cape Fear Region). Brunswick County consists of several communities to include Shallotte, Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach, Carolina Shores, Bolivia, Leland, Boiling Spring Lakes, Bald Head Island, Southport, Oak Island and Calabash.

According to the U.S. Census estimates, Brunswick County ranked 14th among the U.S. counties in growth from July 1, 2005 to July 1, 2006. The coastal areas of Brunswick County are benefiting from the tremendous growth in the city of Wilmington (to include expansion of the Port and the recent completion of Interstate 40 to the northern border of the city) and the growth in Horry County. With future infrastructure improvements to include a State Port in Southport, the extension of I-40 into the northern section of Brunswick County, and the construction of Interstate 74 through Brunswick County, growth will continue for the foreseeable future. As such, commercial real estate (improved and raw land) will continue to see demand.
